Snowmobiling
Since 1965, Old Forge has been known as the "Snowmobile Capital of the East" with hundreds of miles of groomed trails. Ride your snowmobile from motel room to shopping to dining (community streets are open to snowmobiles and snowmobilers). The Old Forge trail system connects with all major trail systems in Central and Upstate New York with two shifts of paid trail grooming daily.

The Old Forge area is also famous for its great cross country skiing. McCauley Mountain is also home to more cross country ski trails than you can imagine, offering 20 km of groomed trails ranging from beginner to expert.
Those staying at the Old Forge Camping Resort can enjoy the Cross Country Ski Loop. The nature trail is not groomed, so bring your back country skis and come prepared to see winter wildlife around lovely Lake Serene.
