March 2nd, 2010

We're getting down to the homestretch for the 2010 snomobile season with just one month left. Unfortunately we were missed by the crazy storms that hit the east coast in the last two weeks, but were luckily enough to have received well over a foot of snow, some of it being great  packing snow. Now we just need some good extra cold weather to firm up the trails to make for a terrific Snofest next weekend; before the snow hit there was quite a bit of snow on the field where the Freestyle Snocross shows will be held. If we can get those cold temperatures then the groomers should be able to make the trails a thing of beauty.

As always THINK SNOW, but remember to THINK COLD too!

It's a beautiful sunny winter day here in Old Forge with the temperature at 15°, with scattered snow showers expected throughout the week. We've received about 2 -3 inches of snow since mid-day on Sunday. Traffic this weekend was about average, and we didn't hear any complaints about the trails here at the Front Desk. However, it was a very cold weekend, with Friday and Saturday staying in the negatives most of the day.

The Great Room is now finished, and the pictures really do not do it justice. The new hardwood floors are truly beautiful. With the addition of new comfy chairs and couches, there is ample sitting space to relax. January 29th, 2010

Hello all, on Wednesday we got around two inches of new snow and in the last 24 hours we have received 5 more. Traffic in the area was low due to the rain on Monday, the cold weather firmed them up, and now the base is firm but a bit icy with loose snow on top. The forecast for the next week looks promising as they are calling for snow almost everyday. As always think snow.

Water's Edge and our guests the Furino family were recently featured in the New York State Snowmobile Association's online magazine New York Snowmobiler Online in the December '09 issue. In the President's Message, Mike Fischer says "This is one family who makes at least one trip to enjoy the trails and the plentiful snowfall in New York State each year. In doing so, they represent the three facets of our sport: The opportunity for family activity, the future of snowmobiling, and the importance of our sport to the winter economy in New York."

Hello all, we hope you had a good holiday weekend. The trails got hit hard this weekend with high traffic, high temperatures and a bit of rain, but are fortunately still in fair condition. The trails with the most traffic such as Trail 5 are in need of snow. Cold temperatures with highs only in the 20s are on the horizon and snow is in the forecast as well. Hopefully with these colder temperatures the trails will firm up and we'll get some fresh powder to boot.

Stay tuned later in the week we'll be giving you a sneak peak of newly redone Great Room.
